frequency
of spawning: minumum 1 per week
type
of spawn: pelagic
egg
count: 100-150, chain-linked aggregation
size:
0.5-0.8 mm

The
eggs are released in a chainlike manner, but soon they
ball together to a sphere.

The
eggs are brought to hatch in my special container.

One
egg after 24 h, it can already be seen how much the
larva has developed.

Mostly
after 48 h (depending on water temperature) the first
larvae begin darting across the hatching cone. After
more than 80 to 90% of the batch has hatched, it is
released into the larval tank. This is performed simply
and without stress by opening the sealing cap of the
hatching cone.
After
72 to 96 h the larva is fully developed.

8
days later they have put on a lot.

2
weeks post hatch, the larvae are beginning to resemble
adult form. In this phase larvae gain much more in width
than in length.

Larva
after 4 weeks

Larva
6 Week

After
approx. 7 weeks the little Mandarins start to color
up.

Little
Mandarin after 9 weeks.
Unfortunately
it will take a long time for sexual dimorphism to be
visible.
